Description

It's been two years since Enna was swept up in a heart-pounding court adventure. Now, having returned to her old life in the forests of Bayern, she is growing restless. When a strange force takes possession of her brother, Liefer, she returns to the capital to seek the help of her friend Isi, Bayern's princess. But Bayern is tottering on the verge of war with neighboring Tira. When endowed with the terrifying gift that destroyed Liefer, Enna takes herself to war -- only to embark on an epic journey of discovery and betrayal that will force her to come of age. Shannon Hale's fiery companion to her acclaimed retelling of The Goose Girl (2007 Audio Award Winner for Achievement in Production) is dark, intricate, deeply passionate, and ultimately triumphant. Listeners, whether returning to Bayern or making their first visit, will find themselves enthralled.

Cynthia Bishop and a cast of 15 (including director Daniel Bostick) blend voices and keen music to narrate this sequel to THE GOOSE GIRL. Enna reluctantly inherits her late brother's skill of internally creating fire, used as a devastating weapon, after his flamboyant demise in battle. Enna, ably voiced by Chelsea MIXON, ponders the morality of this awful weapon. As a hostage, her quandary intensifies when she falls under the spell of a smooth-talking enemy soldier. Enna is assisted by her friend, Isi (Goose Girl--now queen of Bayern), who has powers with wind. After grisly battle scenes and daring escapes, all capably narrated but lacking gripping tension, the two women set out to seek comprehension and control of their powers. D.P.D.
